Khela Hobe (The game is on!)

Notwithstanding dementia in elderly people (not that I am young!), we can hardly recall any other word in the recent past that has caught the imagination across all ages: Khela Hobe! It has come to be used for so many other things (well, all most everything!) than what it supposed to have meant otherwise!

So, after few seconds of serious chintan-baithak (so cute, na) with self, when the one member working committee in me, decided to make a laughing stock of myself in this cyber space by venturing into the Blog world, I am tempted to think whether I am doing a ‘khela-hobe’ (hara-kiri, this time) on myself! The only solace I can draw is  people will hardly read it and even if some wandering soul visits the page, he(and some ‘she’) will leave in a pressing need to the loo! And with so much of reading material available in the digital space, strained eyes will not search for ‘self proclaimed’ blog writers. At least I wouldn’t.

Then why this try.

Apart from few scribbles of essay writing in school, which on most occasions almost meant a guardian call, I do not remember writing anything substantial anytime. (The Wren & Martin shaming failed love letters are best forgotton!) The other longish prose are related to explaining case mitigants to stubborn underwriters in official mails! And the buck stops there! With covid pandemic confirming its berth and winking naughty with more waves to come in, haven’t we adjusted to something which we never thought we could do. A Class KG student being promoted to Class 2 without even  getting to know the ‘sweet’ smell of the pheynls at the lavatory (among other such smells!), a brilliant MBA aspirant completing his course in his pyjamas (sans underwears) without visiting his picturesque campus even once, the heart wrenching student farewells being replaced by exchanging whatspp emojis (some later deleted),a sprawling hotel property turning into a covid centre, an orchestrated crowd cheering in a sound box as 11 players take on the field for the IPL, a vaccination certificate safely tucked in smart phone folder and….a certain novice trying out writing a blog! We have seen it all!

Thus this attempt. As a Jack of all trades,a pathetic dabbler, will write on anything and everything that means of some interest to him which can be an obscure ice hockey match, a steaming cup of tea or a pebble lying in a river bed!

My (free)space, after all! 🙂

Life….bring it on…..Khela Hobe!

  1. Very well articulated, Rajib. Some of us continue to surprise ourselves, but this wasn’t a surprise from you. Your tongue in cheek humour needs more frequent expression!

  3. As you rightly mentioned that so many avenues just opened up during this pandemic and people started so many things out of the blues which they never thought of actually, similarly I think the carbon bubbles inside your Cola just wanted to erupt in form of blog and believe you in me, it is not only tasty but also full of fizz. Just keep writing my dear friend, you made a ton on your debut 👌👌
